Google Sitemaps is a tool that lets you notify Google every time you update your blog, so that they return to your blog to index it. Will Google sitemaps help increase your ranking? The answer is yes!
How do you add your blog to Google Sitemaps?
First, you’ll need a Google account. Once you have a Google account login to “Google Webmaster Tools.”
In the “Add a site box,” enter the URL to your blog you’d like to manage and hit ok.
You should receive a message that says, “Your site has been added to your account.
Verify ownership

Google offers four methods of verification. If hosted on Blogger choose the Meta tag option. You can also choose this option if hosted with “WordPress.”
Copy the metatag.

Blogger: Sign into your blogger account> click the design link>Edit html and paste the metatag just after the head tag and save the changes.

In WordPress: Click on appearance>editor>header and paste the code amongst the meta code just after meta-name=keywords tag. Update file.
Once you’ve added the Meta tag to your template, click on the verify button. If you have placed it in the wrong section the system will tell you.
Once you’ve verified your blog, it will take you to submit a sitemap.
Submit a Sitemap to tell us more about your site.
Select the link “Submit a Sitemap.”
This will take you to add Sitemap.
Into the box for Sitemap URL, paste your Site Feed URL.
How do I find my rss feed?
Click on the rss icon in the address bar at the top of the browser (look for the rss icon (shown here
) at the end of the browser’s URL field.
That’s it, you’re done.
To see if Google has indexed your blog, simply type
site: yourblogaddress.com into Google search.
Indexing normally comes a few weeks after a blog is launched.
