Backlinks play a very big role in Google’s pagerank algorithm. There are several different ways you can find out how many backlinks have been picked up by Google.

Before we get started, keep in mind that you may have built more links than Google shows you.

Go  to Google.com and type Link:yourblogname.com in the search box replacing  yourblogname.com with the address of your blog without the http or www.

Ex: Link:bloggertalk.net

or you can use a service like  Linkpopularity.

More links are generally better, but even a few good quality links from other blogs can be beneficial to your blog popularity and your ranking.

If your backlinks are not showing in Google you may need to work at it a little more.

Submit to directories, do link exchanges, join Mybloglog, etc.

This will help build back links, which will increase your visibility in Google.
