What would you do if all of the activity and data from your Twitter account was suddenly to disappear? Before this happens you might consider backing up your tweets.
TweetGuard.com is an easy to use, web app that backs up your Twitter account automatically.
Once you sign in and authorize the app Tweet Guard will begin backing-up immediately. They will give you an approximate time estimate. I have 8,441 tweets and the site gave me a time estimate of 16 minutes.
Keep in mind that: “They are able to backup as much data as they can retrieve from Twitter for your account. In some cases, they are unable to backup 100% of your Twitter data due to current limitations with the Twitter API.”
TweetGuard displays an archive of your tweets, messages, favorites and friends — each in a different tab.

On the right side of the page you will see your backup process, current Twitter stats and backup stats.

Automatic Emails
Under Backup settings you can request a weekly summary of your backup activity be sent to you.
You can also export your tweets as a CSV or XML file.
Now you will no longer have to worry about loosing your tweets. Tweetguard is a great way to backup your tweets, favorites, and friends and best of all it’s free.

You know…I was just thinking about this the other day. I have a lot of great links and advice that I refer back to on Twitter. If I lost that, I’d be screwed! This is awesome. So I’ll add it to my list of things to do!
Thanks!

Good advice, Rose. Like RandomChick, I was also thinking about this and wondering how I could go about doing this. Thanks!

That sounds like a great idea. I had a unique solution I read somewhere. I set up a “dummy” blog in a folder in my self-hosted site. It backs up all my tweets. I don’t really use it for anything else. It’s at http://pattibagadion.com/tweets/ if you want to take a look.
