Are you setting up a blog? If so, you’ve got one overwhelming desire: traffic. All bloggers crave this: the more visitors to their site, the happier and more validated they feel.

If you’re a new blogger, and you’re not getting a constant stream of traffic, you may get so disheartened that you give up your blog.

I’ve been blogging for ten years, and I know one thing: all traffic is not created equal. Too much of the wrong kind is useless, so do be aware of that. In this article you’ll discover how to target the right kind, so that precisely the audience you want reaches your site.

Here are three ways to target the right audience so you get visitors immediately.

Three Easy Ways to Draw Visitors to Your Blog and Kickstart Traffic

1. Get a Link

The World Wide Web is called a “web” for a reason: everything’s linked together. Your new site needs to be connected for visitors to find it, so you need to create an initial connection.

If you own other sites, getting links is easy — a couple of clicks, and you’re done.

But what if you don’t own other sites?

It’s easy. Just visit blogs in your niche, and leave relevant comments. Don’t spam — your comments will be deleted. Your comments must add to the conversation.

2. Write a Press Release

You’ve launched a new blog, so it’s time to tell the world. Write a press release introducing your site, and post it to one of the large press release sites. You can use a free or paying site, it’s up to you.

Here’s your chance to draw traffic using the keywords for which you want to be found.

You chose your keywords before setting up your site, didn’t you? If not, do that now.

Press releases are promotional tools. They’re written in the third person, without the “you” of direct address.

Therefore, you’d say: “John Smith’s new ________ (your blog’s title) launched on ______ (date.) Visitors will find…”

Rather than: “At the new _______ (title) site, you’ll find…”

3. Write an Article and Post It to a Directory

Press releases are overtly promotional, although they deal in facts. Articles however are informative, or entertaining. They’re not overtly promotional.

You promote using articles via the “bio” or “resource box”, which is a small advertisement at the end of the article.

Link to your blog in the bio, and give readers a reason to visit.

So there you have it: three easy ways to get the traffic you want. If you’re setting up a blog, you’ll get traffic immediately.
