For the first time bloggers, a free blogger service is a great way to get started in the big blogging blogosphere. Popular blogging sites such as Blogger and Wordpress allow users to setup a blog for free and begin blogging within minutes if they wanted to. These free services encourage people to start blogging. The free services provide you with all the necessary tools to get your blog up and running without spending your hard earned money. What this means is you really don't have nothing to lose but the time you spent blogging.
Some people also find that by signing up with a free blogging service, it may
be easier for the search engines to find them as opposed to buying a domain and
starting a blog on your own hosting account. Since Google owns Blogger, the
Google bots are always looking for new blogs that have been published. They are
always spidering the blogs looking for new and updated content. If you have a
free blog on Blogger, there is a good chance that the big search engine Google
is going to find you pretty fast.
If your blog becomes a hit and you gain a large readership, you might want to
consider moving it to your own domain. With doing this, you are going to have
more control over your blog. Hosting your blog on a free service gives them
access to shut you down if they wanted to. If you had your own domain and hosted
blog, this wouldn't happen. Some also feel that having your own hosted blog on
your own domain is also more professional. With some of the companies that pay
you to do sponsored blog posts, you also need to have your own domain.
There are advantages to both. Some people, like me have both kinds of blogs. I
have blogs on my own domain and I also have some hosted free on Blogger.
Starting with a free service is a great way to get started though, especially if
you have no money.
