Twitter has become a mainstay in the social marketing arena. But how to you find time to keep up with everything - posting, tweeting - you know, all the things you know you need to do to market yourself online?
With a simple plugin you can create a tweet from every blog post! Of course,
you need an account at Twitter first. Just visit Twitter and follow the simple
instructions to create your account. Then head over to Alex King's website and
download Twitter Tools. Once you've unzipped it and uploaded it to your
WordPress Plugins folder, activate it inside your dashboard in Plugins.
The first thing you must do is tell it your Twitter username and Password. Then
click on Test Login Info. If everything works you are ready to go on.
Now you are ready to configure it. Here are my favorite settings:
1. Create a tweet when you post in your blog? Answer Yes
2. Create a blog post from each of your tweets? Answer No
3. Create a daily digest blog post from your tweets? Answer No
4. Title for digest posts: - Leave at the default
5. Select a category for your tweet posts: - Leave at the default
6. Select an author for your tweet posts: - Leave at the default
7. Tweets to show in sidebar: - As many tweets as you want to show in the widget
8. Create tweets from your sidebar? Answer no
The last thing to do is go to Widgets and drag the newly created Twitter Tools
widget on to your sidebar. Title it anything you want. Mine is called 'What I'm
Tweeting'.
Answering the questions as indicated above will automatically create Tweets from
your posts and list your tweets in your sidebar.
So - isn't it about time to start 'tweeting'? When it's this easy you have no
excuse to put it off any longer!
