My blog URL is http://arahman7.blogspot.com/

I used W3C Markup Validator and I got this result: "Failed Validation, 114 errors". You can see it here: http:validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Farahman7.blogspot.com%2F

Then I used W3C Link Checker and I got 22 Code:N/A - could not checked due to robots exclusion rules. 2 Code:N/A - hostname cannot be resolved. Need to be fixed, and 2 Code:302 - usually nothing.

Lastly I validated my feed. I was congratulated because I'm using a valid Atom 1.0 feed. They also said, this feed is valid, but may cause problems for some users.

My questions (remember I'm a newbie and I'm not as computer savvy as you like to think):

1. How do I remedy the 114 failed validation?

2. How do I include robots inclusion? Hostname cannot be resolved I think, http://www.blogger.com have change to http://www2.blogger.com. Do I have to change to www2 in my blog's template? and

3. How to fix my feeds? They said, self reference doesn't match document location. What does it mean in plain English.

I thank you in advance for your help.

Greeting from Malaysia.

Hello ArahMan7 icon_biggrin.gif

Welcome to bloggertalk.net!

I am glad to see your taking an intrest in repairing and validating your code to the W3C Markup!

Well for starters the W3C validator will point out what errors you have and show you what line they resolve on!

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Farahman7.blogspot.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&ss=1

Now as long as there is a checkmark in show source the line number becomes an anchor link where you see the source and can determine whats the problem!

For example your first error!

W3C Results for line 5

Quote:
Line 5, column 11: there is no attribute "name" .

Code:
<META name="verify-v1" content="+lsQNxombxs+kAgVejLXTelmgpsVZk8FASCEinHOeUU=" />

First the meta tag needs to be smaller case letters and where it says 'name=verify-v1' needs to be removed!

So it should look like this

Code:
<meta content="+lsQNxombxs+kAgVejLXTelmgpsVZk8FASCEinHOeUU=" />

Second error is still the same thing but this time its complaining about the tag 'content'!

Now the above just shows you an example of improper HTML tags no longer supported in XHTML

Now in XHTML strict there is no attribute content! So my suggestion would be to delete this entire line if you wish to use XHTML Strict or switch your doctype to XHTML transitional, or HTML 4.01 Strict etc...!

Now if I where you I would use XHTML Transitional instead! Reason, it still comforms as XHTML and yet it still uses some of the other attributes HTML 4.01 uses!

See the results for your self!

XHTML Transitional only 86 errors

http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Farahman7.blogspot.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=XHTML+1.0+Transitional&ss=1

Either way though the above meta tag will not pass as XHTML! I assume your using some sort of Rating for Safe Surf? See if they offer an XHTML version of the code you need to place into your website!

The other errors are really quiet simple!

You need to switch some of your html characters to HTML - Special Entity Code!

So say for example you have added a url using & in the string this needs to be switched to & amp; of course with out the space!

Same goes for this as well !

You have < All through your posts, the tag FONT is not permitted in XHTML, either remove these or switch it to the following!

<span style="font-face:comic sans MS;">YOUR TEXT</span>

Here is an excellent resource site for learning XHTML

http://www.w3schools.com/

Hope this helps and if you need further assistance let me know!

Shawn

At last I can use the reply button. I've change to Mozilla to be able to do that. Now back to the matter. I received an answer from Mr. Shawn:

"Now yes I recommend switching your Doc Type to XHTML Transitional!

Second remove that first meta tag {The adult surf one} and see if they offer another way to validate your site or offer an XHTML version!

All other questions must be answered in the forums!"

1. Do you mean to rewrite the whole template using XHTML Transitional? Can I do it unmanually (automatically)?

2. Do you mean Google's verified meta tag are adult surf as in PORN? My God!

3. Please answer my no. 2 and 3 question from the previous questions.
