Hi.
Recently I've noticed the trend among us twenty-somethings and among pop culture in general that tends toward supporting non-mainstream, independent styles of music, dress, and attitudes.
As an artist, I find this new interest in pretending to be thrifty and above the mainstream to be ridiculous, and hope to enlighten readers as to the true nature of the "Indie Aesthetic" before it hit the spotlight and ironically became popular.
Some might think "Well, aren't you one of these pretentious hipsters yourself?" Of course not, because, in the cycle of gentrification, I would be one of the roving artists and "bohemians" that are constantly on the move with the purpose of spreading their art. Personally, the "artsy-fartsy" aesthetic is just a byproduct of, well, actually being artsy.
In other words, your common Williamsburg Hipster is attracted by the lifestyle, whereas people like me just sort of absorb the lifestyle because of what we do by trade.
