some quality help will be hugely appreciated as i seem to have spent hours and hours going through various sites, tutuorials, trying to edit html in my blogger and using its 'slideshow' feature to no avail.
I've got an account on slide and photobucket.
The help on blogger with this i didnt find worked for me, nor did help from these photoalbum accounts. I've also looked at Flikr but it doesnt sem cut out for it
Easy enough to post a photo as these sites show but to make it look good linking to a site hosting several albums of lots of photos whcih will be updated is what i need.
I've noticed one blogger site that has successfully linked with slide but when i tried (with help emails) i kept getting an error message on trying to slot the slide code in the blogger html.
cheers!

I have a slideshow in my sidebar, but I just used the one available in the Add Page Element listing. Mine links to PicasaWeb which I just happened to use as all the blogger photo's are uploaded to PicasaWeb anyway so it was easier to work with them there. I see in the set up for that add-on you can easily link to Flickr and other photo hosting sites, but I've never tried them.
I maintain an album specifically for the slideshow on PicasaWeb and periodically manually shift the photo's around and add/remove photo's so the slideshow changes frequently. One thing I don't like is that it seems to take a bit of time for the initial loading, but I guess I can live with that. And of course the images are reduced in size to fit into the sidebar, but the visitor can easily go to the slideshow on PicasaWeb to see larger images.
I'm afraid I wouldn't be of much help if you are looking to do more than just that. _________________ Baker Watson

cheers rose, i understand that re. photobucket, how do you use the feed from the album then? -so you get a nice link in the sidebar of your blogger that takes you to the photohosting one/via that album...?
I've not managed to successfully use any feed/code yet, which seems to be what i need to do. |

I'm not really sure why you are getting an error message. In my case I just set up the gadget picking PicasaWeb as the source. Then I have two options: either Keyword or Album. I picked Album. Then I picked my PicasaWeb name as User and selected one of my albums from the list provided.
I tried out picking Keyword as an experiment. I presume it gave me all the public photo's in PicasaWeb that match that Keyword. Of course with one word as the Keyword there could be 1,000's of photo's. I then changed the Keyword to a phrase containing some of the words included in the title of one of my Albums. The sample photo's became more restricted and included photo's from that album. Once I changed the Keyword to the exact title of the album I got only photo's from my album meaning evidently there are no other public photo's in Picasaweb that are associated with that total keyword phrase.
I hope this helps but beyond that I'm not sure why you might be encountering a problem. I presume this would work basically the same way with the other hosting sites like Flickr, but I didn't test it on any of them.
(One other note. If you have a PicasaWeb account and several albums you may notice that there is often a significant lag in changes to those albums and how they appear on Blogger. For instance, if you add a new album or rename one it may not appear immediately on the list of albums you can select for your slideshow. I guess it has something to do with the way PicasaWeb and Blogger link and update. In Blogger when you upload a photo for a post it will also add the photo to an unlisted album in PicasaWeb and it will stay there even if you delete the photo from Blogger. If you delete the photo from that PicasaWeb album that has all those photo's you uploaded to Blogger then the photo will eventually be deleted from the blog also but it may take up to 24 hours. If you have a slideshow on your blog using one of your albums and add or delete a photo or rearrange the photo's within that album then it sometimes may take several minutes for the change to become evident within the slideshow on the blog.) _________________ Baker Watson
