Sorry to be a wet noodle on this gang, but there is absolutely no need to ever submit your sites to the engines.
In fact, they prefer to find sites by crawling links.
When you send a submission into them, it simply alerts a spider to watch for new links to you from other websites - they don't just drop by because they were invited.
While I can appreciate Rose's efforts in providing helpful info for the users here, you can skip this step in favor of finding a couple of good inbound links form other pages that already get spidered.
A quick way to ensure you get spidered is to submit a relevant article to a social space (I like sphinn.com, but I'm an SEO, so it's a space targeting me.) By submitting the link in a place like that, you get a solid, one-way, inbound link form them to you. That's always a good way to start building links.
Since the spiders crawl sites like that several times each day, they'll find the link to your article and crawl you that day (or shortly there-after) as well.
My goal here is NOT to bash or upset anyone - just trying to offer some useful info base don my own experience.

While it is true that you don't even need to submit your site to
Google in order to be indexed, Google does invite you to submit your
URL to make sure they don't miss your site.
I do agree that another good way to help Google and other search engines find your pages is to exchange links with other sites, but it doesn’t hurt to submit a site for inclusion. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

If your domain is indexed but you are waiting awhile for a new directory to get indexed on your established site(and have some backlinks), would submitting the url increase the speeding of its indexing? _________________ San Francisco Giants

How can we assure if that Search Engines added our sites or blogs, considering the fact that they are BIG SE's. _________________ WebsiteKo! Gadgets and Gizmos

Some search engines ask you for an emailadress.
Why is that? |
