How to Check Your Backlinks on Yahoo and Google
Link Popularity Checker
Backlinks play a very big role in Google's pagerank algorithm. To check your backlinks type link:www.yourwebaddress.com into Google search.
Ex: Link:bloggertalk.net
or you can use linkpopularity.com.
More links are generally better, but even a few good quality links from other blogs can be beneficial to your blog popularity and your ranking.

Wordpress list your incoming links from Technorati.com
You can see more of the incoming links monitored by Technorati by clicking the “More” link next to the title. According to Technorati, there are currently (910 links from 341 blogs) linked to Rose DesRochers - World Outside my Window. Google shows 377 linking to rosedesrochers.todays-woman.net and Yahoo Shows 11,020. I'm not sure what is up with Yahoo.

I've noticed something seems to be up with Technorati.com lately.
At first I thought it was just me but when I checked the forum it seems a lot of sites are not getting included in people's 'sites that link here' page.

The Important fact is that Google doesnot show all the backlinks and in yahoo and msn u will see lot of variation..

Just be aware that it's quality more than quantity. Blog directories don't help your pagerank as much as links from other bloggers. And the higher *their* page rank, the higher yours will be.
The way to have a strong blog is to have good content and loyal, regular readers. You earn readers by participating in the broader community.

sorry for reviving an old post so thats y google doesnt show any of my backlinks...I know i have them they just dont show up when i do this |

I use Google Reader to see my backlinks.
Go to Google Blog Search at http://blogsearch.google.com.
Do the mentioned search:
link:yoururl.com or
link:yoursubdomain.blogspot.com
Once you see the listing of people linking to your site, look and click on the "RSS" link in the left side banner. Add it to your Google Reader, or whatever reader you use for RSS feeds.
If you've got multiple blogs, you can organize all your 'trackbacks' in one folder. When clicking on that folder in the left nav bar in Google Reader, they'll be listed chronologically...not based on your blogs. Handy for when those who like to deal with 'First In First Out' stuff in their online businesses. |

I was unable to make any of those links work to check my backlinks. Not clear on what part of those addresses go in my browser, tried a number of combinations, but got nothing.
