Hi, All,
I've read at length about pinging, etc. so I'm aware that doing so can be a plus, but my question is -- can you overdo it? I can't imagine how, if it's par fo the course to ping following each update but owing to an odd experience I had I thought I should ask.
As I mentioned previously, I've cobbled together a blog to do product reviews. I did a few posts last week, pinged following each new addition, checked by doing a Google search, cross referebced in blog searches and sure enough, all was there.
The other day I added and subsequently removed (because when I put it in the sidebar it rendered everything out of whack) adsense. Since removing it, ping or no ping, nothing from my blog shows up in Google. Have I been penalized? So soon? LOL
Please advise! TIA |

I think it’s best not to over do it and ping the services no more than once a day. If you do it more than once in a short length of time, you can be penalized. I don't see your blog in Google search engine at all and changing something on your blog would not have gotten you removed from the search engines. Did you submit your blog to Google? You do show up in Blogger Search. You might want to submit your blog to Google.

Hi, Rose,
I did submit my blog to Google and noticed it was included, thereafter. It was after I turfed the adsense that it no longer appeared in spite of submitting it to Gogle yet again.So! I thought maybe the adsense removal was a black mark against me.  I didn't ping more than once daily. I usually do only one post per day, time permitting. |

Thank you, Stu. I think I will cease to ping, and just let nature take its course (and hopefully, not "die of natural causes" in the process).

Holy cow....they have so many different places you can ping. So next question....can you ping too many 'places', lol? |
