Hi my fellow bloggers!
I had an idea but need some help.
I thought it would be beneficial for newbies to have a list of the most important things to make a blog successful... listed in order of importance.
It seems to me (in my very limited blogging experience) that there is a million things to do but figuring it all out is mind boggling!
So, I'm wondering what ya'll think are the most important things to do, in order.
For example...
1. Set up blog
2. Hook up to various search engines
3. Add a stat counter
4. Join blogger talk (smile)
5. Do the Meta tag thing
6. Sign onto Technorati
7. Add tags to images
8. Learn key work otimization
9. Get RSS feed thing working
10. Set up labels
11. Set up email address in sidebar
12. Set up "favorites" in sidebar
Etc, etc. etc. etc.
So, what advice would you give to a newbie? What is most important? What sorts of things would you put on the list?

Hi Rose...
I think for some newbies (like me), we don't even know what we need to learn so it would be good to have a basic list of the things we need to do, and then the tutorials to go with them! 
For example, on the blogger help site there is a list of frequently asked questions, but there could be a list of how to get it all going.
By reading and participating in various forums those of us new to blogging sort of discover things along the way but I think it would be GREAT to have the list as a starting place!
There could be a list, like I described above and then a link to the tutorial?

I've been thinking for the longest time of compiling some of my previous posts to make a checklist for new bloggers and you gave me the inspiration to create one. Do you think this covers enough to get someone going on the right track?
BTW you have an inspirational blog with some great quotes!

I want to add one more item to the check list: plan.
What's your plan with your blog? Are you doing it for fun? Are you doing it for making some decent money, or are you doing it for passive residual income?
Your plan will affect some your check list.
