How to create 'Anchor Links'

Creating anchor links is not very difficult and there not much different then the standard URL hyperlink, other then your creating a link from on section of your page and targeting the link to another section of the same page or maybe even another page located on your web site!

The standard hyperlink looks like the following!

Code:
<a href="http://www.your_domain.com">Your Domain</a>

Now the difference between an anchor link and hyperlink is we use the syntax 'name' and can set the syntax to either a word or number variable.

You would place the below tag in your source code where you want your visitor to land after clicking the hyperlink.

Example

Code:
<a name="#destination"></a>

Now to put it all together I will demonstrate and example

Layout of your webpage

Header
Code:
<a href="#destination">YOUR LINK</a>

-------------------------------------------------------------

Body Content

------------------------------------------------------------
Footer
Code:
<a name="# destination"></a>

Now if the user clicks the above link in the header they will be directed to the footer.

Now say you want the user to click the hyperlink and be directed to another section of your website landing where you want the user to be directed too!

You only need to change the hyperlink to the following to accomplish this.

Example

Code:
<a href="http://www.your_domain.com/my_page.html#destination">The LINK</a>

Then on the page the user is going to be directed to you would place the anchor link where the user will end up!

Code:
<a name="#destination"></a>

That's all there is too it!
