Hi All
When I type in the full name of my blog in the blog directory (Reserve Dog Liberation) it does come up under 'Animal Blogs" but it does not show up if I just type in dog or reserve or reserve dog. How would someone find the blog unless they knew the exact name of my blog?
I'm not getting much traffic, so maybe that's why?
Thank you,
Didos _________________ Reserve Dog Liberation

Are you referring to the Blogger Talk Blog Directory?
If so, please keep in mind that our community is fairly new. We have only been open six months. Blogcatalog we are not though my blog has only received 7 hits from Blogcatalog. lol
When I search the term dog in the Blogger Talk directory I am able to find your blog.
I know that Google has cached your link in our directory too.
You might wonder what the benefit is of submitting your blog to various blog directories if it doesn't bring you a lot of traffic.
An extremely important aspect of search engine optimisation is backlinks, therefore submitting to blog directories has SEO advantages.
By submitting your blog to various blog directories you receive even more inbound links therefore increasing your Pagerank.
Right now we have a Pagerank of three, but Pagerank prediction predicts we will be going to a five with the next update.
So submitting your blog to blog directories is beneficial if not from the little bit of traffic you’ll receive from it, but the backlink from sites with good PR.
I hope this helps answer your question. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

Hello Didos
Well Rose makes a very good point, post your blog to many blog directories and increase your backlinks and it will help you key in on your keywords, so you have a better chance of showing up in the search engines for the terms your searching..
Also be sure to make related post that use those key phrases and add them to your meta tags or your image alt tags as well!
Also to point out another thing!
Sometimes large Blog directories are not very beneficial as your most likely not going to receive a fair bit of traffic, as your blog gets berried very fast among the rest of the submission, not to mention blogs that have already established popularity within that blog directory will fair much better then yours!
Sometimes selecting a small blog directory / new blog directory will have much better results as your site will gain related traffic as the blog directory grows, and increases their pr at the same time yours will also!
Example:
- BlogCatalog - Rose Desrochers 7 hits
- Blogging Fusion Blog Directory - Rose DesRochers 16 hits and Blogging Fusion is only 2 weeks old!
