I was amazed to find that my blog is on page 1 of a google search for the Title of my blog. But under the meta tag search, I don't exist. Is this an oddity?

I just did a meta tag additive to my blogger template so perhaps this will help. We shall see.

If you do a Google search for ragbox, I'm right there on the first page under "The Rag Box" So Google must know of my existence. I wonder if I resubmit the site with the newly installed meta tags, it would re-index the site. Do you think so?

All you need to do is update and wait for Google to reindex. You don't need to resubmit your blog.

I thought Google didn't read metatags -- do you have a sitemap to your blog? I think that's what Google uses. But frankly, I don't understand the SEO thing when it comes to Google.

In any case, their robots crawl around a lot so it's only a matter of time before they re-index your site.

Google does not use or read Meta Tags, the search engines that use Meta Tags are MSN, Yahoo, Altivista and AlltheWeb

It can take an average of 6-7 days for Google-bot, re-index your blog from the last cache and then 3 days before it appears within Google's index or search results.

Another way is search for your website using Google, when you find the search result, click the cache link...

This will open up the cache version of your website but it also states the date last crawled / indexed..

I just tried doing what you said Shawn and realized that my old blog domain is showing up in a google search a lot more then my new one. Anyone know of a way I can change this so google brings up my new domain in it's search first?

Stu you might want to set up an html redirect. Have you asked all those linking to you to change their links yet?

I agree with Rose, setting up a redirect may help and a post informing users to update their links to your new domain will also help!

Adding something like this with a delay before being transfered to the new site so users see your post of course!

Code:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://www.invader-stu.com/holland/">

Cool. I set that up a few days ago. Maybe it has just not had enough time to make an affect yet.

Good question. I'm not sure if the new one is. I'll look.

EDIT: Yep. I'm in there.
