Do you believe everything you read on the net? Just found this story on a news site and it makes you wonder. Who is Lonelygirl15? Your kids probably know.
| Quote: | | Well, it turns out it was all a fake - orchestrated carefully by a LA talent agency - probably to promote an upcoming movie or project. |
That quote says it all really, but read the article anyway. It doesn't say what movie or project it's all about, but the fact that they stooped that low is just sad. Expecially since it was aimed at kids. _________________ Bob! |

It should serve as a wake-up call to all internet users that anyone can be anything they want to be online and the anonymity of the Internet is a definite cause that we need to pay close attention to, especially when teaching our children about online safety. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

Any clue about what it was all about though? I'm curious as to the point of it all (much I suppose makes what they did a success if others are the same). _________________ Bob! |

The thing that I've really noticed is the amount of bloggers just duplicating stuff. Links to entertainment sites or "look what I just found out" type things. I have a bit of a pet hate for a lot of this. _________________ www.spitfiredesignstudio.com (business)

I actually watched a few of the lonelygirl videos just before the hype started (they were on the most downloaded videos page). I must say, they were pretty entertaining and even a little educational. Since I've been experimenting lately with posting my own videos to Youtube in preparation for regular podcasting, I like to know what works for viewers.
I have no problem at all with fake blogging. Lots of people like mockumentaries. Same thing, different medium. |

In February of 2005 McDonalds set up a fake blog on TypePad about a French fry that looked like Abe Lincoln. It was all part of the companies Super Bowl ad spoof. Even the comments on the blog were fake. Consumers were not too happy to hear that it was all a hoax and can you blame them? I sure can't!
There appears to be a number of fake blogs popping up and it it only a matter of time before we start to question what is real and what is fake. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

There must be millions of fake blogs. I was once thinking of setting up a fake blog for fun but before you all hang me I mean an obviously fake blog :p Like the blog of a star ship captain or something just for entertainment. _________________

I know this thread is kind of old now, but I'm an obsessed lonelygirl15 fan so I could explain what went on with it all if anyone wants to know
Lonelygirl15 used one fake blog to tell their cassieiswatching part of the story (its's debated if this story was official but that's another long argument lol). I mean they used an actual blog and not youtube videos.
The blog caused some controversy because it was about someone hearing voices and being possessed by a girl. It linked off to some real voice hearing sites and the character writing it was getting mad at fans for trying to connect him to lonelygirl.
hehe it's all crazy.
I think one problem with blogs is that they're so easy to set up, but then that's also one of their strengths. _________________ NZ Protagonist - My screenwriting blog.
