I've used MT, livejournal (& Vox), Wordpress, Xanga and (thinking) well, Drupal now although that's a whole content management system. I have to say hands down for pure blogging Wordpress is the way to go. I've used both the software and the hosting service and have always been happy with both. Why?
1. Pretty interface, easy customization;
2. Great support;
3. Templates for days and days;
4. Widgets;
5. Crossposters (I crosspost to LJ and Xanga from my wordpress blog).
I always recommend wordpress first to people; I think it's just an amazing software package.

| Have you used Blogger, by chance? It seems that a lot of people use it, too, and it's the only thing that I've ever compared seriously with Wordpress. I'm always looking for the pros and cons of using Wordpress vs. Blogger/blogspot in case I'd like to transfer over at some point. |

I have used blogger and it seems much clunkier and I don't think blogger *looks* as good as Wordpress. I also don't think it can compete with Wordpress's customizations (if you're hosting your blog yourself) what with the plugins and widgets. And it seems like the Wordpress stand-alone as well as hosted systems get better support.
JMHO!!

2. have a lot of great template and plugin to customize.
3. incredible features. _________________ The 118 Most Useful Wordpress Plugins |

Ok, Wordpress.org is IMHO the best. Everything is so much easier and has so much freedom. With blogger you are using their server and have to play by "their rules" I recommend Wordpress for all serious bloggers who ask me about who they should go with. I used blogger so I know what it's like, wordpress and blogger are like night and day.
Now that I have that off my chest, Blogger is good too. You are able to change to code and get your own feel which is great. _________________ BANNED |

Yes, you are right, but do you setup for new mysql database right?
create mysql username and password and connect with your wordpress script.
with fantastico you don't need to. it will done automatically. it save your time. _________________ The 118 Most Useful Wordpress Plugins |

Yes, I LOVE fantastico but I had to install wordpress for a friend of mine recently who didn't have it and wordpress runs the install script itself once you have the files configured correctly.
