| Any advice on how many is too many? I have been thinking of taking off the firefox and photos add that shows up in the sidebar. That would really leave the two at the top of the site and two at the bottom. I would appreciate any help. |

I don't use them because I don't have a blog for the purpose of mass distribution. It's a personal site for me and my friends. _________________ Visit http://georgejazz.blogspot.com

I have changed around some of the adds on my site. I use Amazon and a book group to put adds on my site now. I don't post many photos on my site, and I actually like the splash of color some of these adds put on my site.
I like the Amazon adds because I like to do book reviews on my site. I change the Amazon add to reflect my latest review whenever I make one. |

I have actually just sold my first Text Link Ad, it has only taken a few month . I don't like the way people have ads plastered all over the site, nor do I like the ads in the content, especially when the links appear the same as other normal links.
I don't see a problem in wanting to make money out of your blog, at the end of the day it is your blog and you do what you want with it, however, it can be off putting if there are too many ads on it, but then again, that goes without saying doesn't it. |

| I don't like it when ads interfere with the content. I just think that the focus of a blog should be the content, since that's what everyone comes there for. I don't have a problem with ads on blogs otherwise. Ads on the Net are pretty common these days, so I don't really notice them. |

I agree with sapphiresilver, as long as the ads don't interfere with the content it should be fine!
The problem is so many bloggers are looking at making m$ney with their blogs that they have forgotten what blogs where about, there a journal a great utility for communicating online with friends and visitors.
Giving that person a voice, and they where not meant to be stuff it with ads, not to mention popup-ads are most annoying! Some blogs have so many ads and widgets on them anymore they almost don’t want to even load…
Keep it simple, no more then 2 ad placements within any post, maybe at the side or the end of the article as then its clean and out of the way!

I'm not a big fan of ads, they tend to get on the way and some bloggers seem to think to more the better.
However, if the blog is well-organised, has good contents etc. I don't mind. I do start to dislike payperpost on the other side.

No one likes ads.
With the exception of a few funny TV commercials and those who are making money out of the ads, no one likes them...
Who clicks ads because they like them??? _________________ 2 Students. 5 Years. 1 Million Dollars.

The only reason I ave ads on my site is to pay for my hosting, what I get from the ads goes into my blog, you get what you pay for. Ads in themselves are not a bad thing, ads in the "wrong hands" is what's bad. _________________ BANNED |

If ads are not placed like spam, they can even be a good thing, depending on the content of your blog. Some ads lead to sites (though commercial) that can provide more information on the subject you are blogging about. _________________ The Digital Folders Network

Well personally ads do not make me predisposed about a blog and its contents (not most of the time anyway). However, they can be distracting from an aesthetical point of view when they are poorly implemented or they stand out from the overall colour scheme of the blog too much. For me it can be enough not to bother any more with a blog. However, there are blogs with ads that know when "enough is enough" and they strike a nice visual balance between actual blog content and ads.
Plus, I think an important distinction needs to be made. In personal blogs, littered with too many ads, the ads do stand out quite negatively for me, since they seem "out of place". On the other hand, thematic blogs where the ads have some relation with the content of the blog feel more in synch with the blog and do not distract as much. _________________ Have a look at : http://deadpoolstrikesback.blogspot.com/

I've considered advertising for that reason alone: my site's not free. It's not breaking the bank, but I wouldn't mind making enough to cover the $10 a month I pay for hosting. _________________ done but with errors |
