Hi all,
I'm new to the world of Podcasting, so I figured I would ask the pros up here on this forum for some advice. Any good equipment that I should invest in? Tips / tricks that you would recomend? Things to watch out for?
thanks for all the help |

I don't have the answers -- I'd love to know the answer as well. I just did my first podcast, all 63 seconds of reading a flash fiction story -- just used Gabcast, recorded it by cellphone on their free channel, but they have other options. I would love to learn more about it all.
I have a MAC, but only with Panther, so any suggestions from MAC podcasters would be appreciated as well. _________________ http://TumbledWords.com

Get yourself a mic, and a computer
seriously I suggest first you get audacity to use to record and edit once you are done there, get an account at odeo and upload it there thats pretty much all you need. That's what I did for mine you can check them out at my site if you want to see the finished product. http://tcramerica.org look for recent podcasts in the sidebar _________________ BANNED |

Thank you, I am on my way to go listen. I've heard Audacity mentioned, but not what it was in reference to. I'll check it out. . I do need a mic and would love a brand spanking new MAC, but I will settle for my 12" iBookG4 that I have to take the thousands of photos off so my hard drive can breathe enough to work. . . Note to world: don't settle for a small hard drive - it will bite you. Thanks again, Nick. _________________ http://TumbledWords.com

lol, I know what you mean, my wife and I just bought a 15" macbook pro, ooh boy is it fun. I should correct myself, I used to use audacity, now I use garageband, only because it came with my mac, it does pretty much the same thing as audacity, but it has some extra fun tools and stuff. _________________ BANNED |

I was going to question that since you used garage band on one of yours. I have garage band, but think I need Tiger to do podcasts.
Congratulations on your new MAC. I will download Audacity as soon as I get all these photos off my hard drive and onto a separate small drive or something. Every thing acts up because the hard drive is so loaded. I took some hundreds of bad photos off, and my computer worked so much better, but then I put more on. _________________ http://TumbledWords.com

If you have garage band you should be able to record (whether or not you have Tiger) - you just need to make sure that your soundcard can accept a microphone input. If not, there are quite a few soundcards that you can purchase at guitar center that would do the trick for around 1 to 2 hundred bucks. |
