Assuming one wishes to start a blog on a topic one finds interesting and make some money from it, which of these aspects of the blog is the most important? Initially I would have said traffic (because it doesn't really matter what you write if nobody reads it) but now I'm not so sure....
What do you guys think?

| ^ So do I. It doesn't matter how many people you get to come to your site....if you don't have good content, it won't matter, because they certainly won't be coming back. If you build good content first, though, then traffic will have something to see and it can increase from there. |

Correct. How good your content is composed will determine if it receives popularity from visitors. Catching the fish of the net is important, but retaining them is even more important.

I agree. Content is important. If the visitors don't like your content...they will not be coming back...

One other thing...the blog should be fun for you to maintain and write. What makes it fun for you? Lots of graphics? polls? long articles??

| What makes a blog different from a website is its content..a blog have fresh quality content that is updated almost on a daily basis and from the blogger own perspective and point of view.A good and quality content will drive traffic to your blog .A blog with a good follower will easily attract advertiser to put their add there. |

Content is the most important.
A blog without advertising can be a good blog (and could still bring in money through donations)
A blog without traffic is useless, but a blog with great content but only a little traffic is good - its delivering quality to a few people, which is a good thing.
A blog with no content, or poor content, but high traffic is inflicting rubbish on lots of people, which is not a good thing.
