First off, first time visitor, first post. Great site you have here.
I've been a blogger for about 4 years. I have this problem where I make a blog, and then move it, then move it again. I also have about 4 - 6 blogs going at once. Hunting, Sports, tech & Programming, Video games, NASCAR and a few other blogs.
I find it hard to keep up with all the blogs so my question is, should I just combine everything into one blog. I was thinking something along the lines of jims-add-blog.com ( a-d-d as in attention deficit disorder ) Not that name exactly, but kinda like a do all blog for everything I am interested in. My biggest problem is some of my stuff is seasonal.
Fall/Winter = Hunting
Winter = Video Games
Summer/spring = camping, fishing, hiking, sports, nascar
I guess I am at the point where I need some direction.
I keep reading that blogs should stay on topic or readers wont like re-visiting.....but thats hard for me because I have my hands in a lot of different things I like....
Thats about it, no point rambling on!
thanks in advance. _________________ I run Linux, I love Linux, Linux pwns all others.

I see you do talk about various topics, but is your traffic being fed by the parent site, or are visitors finding you from various sources?
I have an idea I am going to put together tonight when i get home from work. I'll post it once I have it done. Don't want to spoil it just yet but I think i found something somewhat unique that i can do with everything that i am interested.
I still would like to hear from others so please keep feeding me anything.

I was thinking of something more like this.
Granted I just whiped this together just now but heck, its not too bad.
Basically everything I write about is associated with a person one way or the other, so why not relate everything I write with people.

Yeah, well I decided that I am going to focus on the one topic that I really really like, which is Linux. So i started LinuxElite.com and I am going to focus on just that. I work with Linux at work a lot, plus I do some various hobby activities with it so I figured this might be more my thing.
Anywho, let me know what you think.

Hi everyone: | Rose wrote: | | I think that you should combine them. If you visit my blog you will see that I blog about a lot of different topics and yet I still have a readership. | That said though Rose, I can personally tell you that as a sports fan, I don't like to have to sift through NASCAR news just to get the baseball scores. I don't watch NASCAR nor do I care for it. So WHY do you think that combining sports topics into one blog would work UNLESS it was formatted like a sports columnist in a local newspaper?
Besides, the sports departments at every major paper I know of have seperate columnists for each sport. This way, baseball fans don't have to read some ramblings about NASCAR from the same columnist anymore than NASCAR fans have to wade through all the ramblings on baseball's woes just to get to what the columnist has to say about the latest NASCAR race.
In short, consolidating them would be putting an ugly looking salad consisting of a mish-mash of vegetables and fruits together (Many of which don't even belong don't even belong in a salad) and would just fill up the container used for the salad (And we haven't even gotten to adding the dressing yet).
Keep 'em seperated Jim. If you move one, just be sure to repost your old posts if you can retro-date them. If you can't, just create a link to your old blog and call it a day.
JMHO...
