Hi,
I've used both IE7 and Firefox - Firefox is my favorite of those two. But I've recently swithced to Opera - it has tabs, but handles them better than FF IMO. It's also lighter and faster. Another great thing it has is "The Wand", which lets you store usernames and pw's for all the sites you visit - just click on the Wand toolbar button to log in.

I've been using Firefox since version 1.5.x hit the streets which was about the same time I went to my own WordPress custom install. With the right extensions (Firebug, Web Developer Toolbar, SEO Quake etc) it's the ultimate site developers/bloggers toolbox as well as browser.
I do use IE 7.0 (with the IE7Pro add-on installed) for those few sites that are still strictly coded for IE, uses Active X components or both and I keep Opera installed as well for site checking when I make changes to my WP install that might affect rendering when using different browsers.
So it's currently Firefox 3 (nightly builds) as my primary. Firefox 2 for development until my "tools of choice" are updated to work in Firefox 3 that is. And IE and Opera for MS sites and developmental purposes.
Firefox 3 is going to change the balance a bit when it's released I think.
Always too wordy I am.

I mainly use firefox, as I am under the assumption that most hackers would rather find security holes in IE.
Although must admit IE7 goes someway towards bridging the gap.
Also, I am building some websites so often flick between Firefox, IE6 & IE&7 to cover 95% of browsers in use.
I also use a screen resolution of 1440x900 most of the time. Once you start using widescreen there is no going back. |

That's one thing I've not been able to get past. If I'm using a widescreen resolution is there a way to check a site against lower resolutions (1024x768 is the lowest resolution I'll accommodate) without having to resort to having at least one smaller resolution display hooked into your setup for testing purposes? Just wondering.

I am using IE7 and Firefox. I use both because I use Outlook Web Access to access my email and Firefox doesn't deal too well with it. I have the IETab addon installed but still prefer it through IE7. I only installed Firefox because IE7 keeps taking up 450Mb of RAM while sitting idle (No I dont have spyware or a virus. Trust me. I have combed every inch of this machine and have many years experience in removing that crap). I have to say, I dont really have a preference over the two.

With firefox there is. I use the web developer toolbar extension. It's the next best thing since sliced bread when it comes to developing. It has a function where you can try out different resolutions, which I have used.
Just one of the reasons I swear by firefox. Can't wait till FF3 comes out of beta. Many of the extensions I can't live without (or dont want to live without) aren't compatible at the mo, well not on mac anyway.

I prefer firefox because if I usually open 3 tabs in ie, it freezes up. Although there are some sites that you have to use IE.

I use IE7 mostly because I find firefox and safari to render some pages oddly, especially mine, but then again, maybe I just code badly... Anyways, until I get better, I'm sticking with IE7.

I use a bit of both, can't really decided to be honest!!
According to my stats the usage is (.....drumroll.....)
1st-I.E 7
2nd-Firefox 2.0
3rd-I.E 6

I either use Firefox or Galeon under Ubuntu Linux 7.04 with a 1024x768 resolution. However, what Rose about MS Windows users is absolutely spot on, although trends have shown that more MS Windows users are moving away from IE to more robust web browsers.
Not sure if this has been mentioned on this thread (I couldn't be bothered to go through over forty comments) but one online tool I've always sworn by is BrowserShots.Org which shows your site under multiple browsers and resolutions. It's well worth bookmarking, that's all I'm saying.

I really like how FireFox fits my needs. I only use IE when I am forced too which isn't very often. I have heard about the beta 3.0 but haven't used it yet. We have Analytics on our website and it shows a definite increase in FireFox.
I use XP and my resolution is 1024 x 768

FF is much better browser indeed. IE is pretty sux.
