Hi,
I am new to blogging. I created a blog. However it does not show up in the search results (yahoo, google etc). Could you please help me figure out what is wrong. What should be done that I am not doing.
The URL for my blog is:
http://homes-sellingandbuying.blogspot.com/
Any help to get my blog up and running in the search results will be highly appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I have submitted my blog to various directories including google, yahoo, technorati, searchsight, exactseek, blog-search and a few others.
I tried to add my site to my signature. Please let me know if it worked. If not, please provide me the steps to add my site to my signature.
I have a question for you. What is a backlink. What purpose does it serve and how do you insert (or provide) backlink in your blog.
This site is great!  I am trying to read as many articles as possible in order to understand the blogging process.

A backlink is basically a link to your site on another site that google picks up on, the more links you have the higher up the search results you'll be!!
The best way to acheive this is by directlly contacting other bloggers/site owners covering your topic and asking to be included in there blogroll/links page then you add them to yours!!
Click on my sig and look for the part that says "Friends of Retro Gamers" for an example!
Also you should list your blog at one of the many blog directories, Blogging Fusion are good but theres loads more!! These listings also count as backlinks!! Just get your link out to as many place's as possible!!
As for your sig, I think there's a "Show Sig In Post" option on your profile, failing that ask the site owner Rose who will be happy to help

Hi Folks,
Thanks for providing information about links and backlinks. I understand that I can insert link to other webpages inside my webpage. However my question regarding the backlink still remains unclear. How can I get backlinks to my web page. Any help on this topic will be highly appreciated

You have no control over back links. They're simply done by people who like your blog and find your information useful and link to your blog on theirs. You can't force people to do this. Since your blog is so new, it will take a while for you to acquire backlinks.
Everything regarding search engines takes time. Your blog/site isn't instantly added to all search engines the moment you create it.
