How do I add social bookmarking buttons to Blogger?
You may have visited blogs and noticed buttons at the end of each post allowing readers to bookmark blog posts to various online social bookmark services.
How does a blogger add these social bookmark buttons to their blogspot blog?
To add social bookmark buttons to the end of every post you can use a service called addthis.com. In order to add the buttons you will need to modify your template.
First make a backup of your template before modifying the HTML by clicking on "Download full template."
Go to Template Edit HTML and check the "expand widget templates" option.
Then Find the line <div class='post-footer'> and paste the code right after that line.
The forgotten milk has also written an easy way for those using Blogger to add social bookmark buttons to the end of every post.

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store bookmarks online similar to as you would on your computer.
The difference with social bookmarking is that most of these bookmarks are public and can be shared with other users.
By adding these buttons to your blog, your visitors can bookmark your blog at a variety of Social Bookmarking Sites.
I hope that explains things. If not I'll try to better explain it. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

If I understand in principle---by adding these buttons to my blog, it allows others to click on them and add my page to theirs or just what? and if I click on them it takes me to that website? _________________ Gary ("Old Dude")

By adding these buttons to your blog it allows your readers (say me) to bookmark your blog on different social networking sites.
If you go to my blog you will see little buttons on each post. If you were to click on the Y it would take you to bookmarks.yahoo.com/ where you could sign up and add your blog to a list of online bookmarks. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

do I have to manually add these buttons to each of my posts when I post them? Guess still confused by what constitutes a social network, how is that say different from sites like My Space with their buddy systems etc.? I will no doubt do this button thing , cause YOU recommend it---I just don't quite understand how it works? _________________ Gary ("Old Dude")

Went to the Ma.gnolia page, (pretty lady), went throught the tutorial. I now will see if I can verify what browser I am using , probabely explorer, but not sure what version---am running windows vista here,so kind of think its the most recent version of explorer----am totally at a loss as to understanding what tags and labels are----not sure what RSS feeds are, I tried to install Google Reader (was told I needed a feed reader and it was recommended? Then tried to subscribe to your blog , but guess I screwed up , as when I click on the add google button nothing comes up??---added the widget "recent comments" and again tried to add your blog page (World outside my Window) but that doesn't seem to work either---LOL---the "old dude" wants to get better at this but totally frustrated today---so will go figure out what browser I got, and then guess go back and sign up with Ma.gnolia, even thought I am totally ignorant of what the hell I am doing---but Rose recommends so keeping the faith<G>----

Hello GarryJay,
To find out what browser you have select the following from the top of your browser...
Help -> About Internet Explorer!
I have Beta 8 which has a blue 7 in top right - which allows me to emulate 7 still when developing websites or looking for errors in design layouts.
Hope this helps,

One thing at a time. lol = (Laugh)
Is there a number 7 on your browser near the upper right corner?
If you are adding my blog to Google bookmarks it would add it to google.com/bookmarks
Google Reader is free and works in your browser, without any software to install. So what on earth are you doing boy?
Did you try subscribing by email?
Maybe you should start a thread asking each of your questions? _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|
