Most of the analytics for my blog are a bit distorted as it is relatively new and has limited activity to date. My bounce rate is currently in the mid-60's, but I can understand why and feel comfortable with it for now. Since it is a new blog I have a good idea of the basically 4 sources for my visitors and how each group responds to the blog. _________________ Baker Watson

Since my old tech head/geek persona of yesteryear finally raised it's ugly head again somewhere towards the end of last year and I infiltrated my poor personal blog with all sorts of WordPress and Firefox 3 "bleeding edge" and "how-to" type posts, my bounce rate has been hovering around 50% to 55% which isn't too bad. However, I'll be splitting off those tech head/geek type posts to a new site here shortly (building as we speak...er...write as it were) so I expect the bounce rate of my personal blog will head back up into the "scary" region again. _________________ Don´t die before your dead |

Ok so, it looks like I need to copy and paste the code for google analytics onto each page I want to track...what if I just want it to track all pages of my blog? _________________ Keen Eye Designs: Jewelry by Ashley |

If you have recently signed up for Google Analytics (or similar service) and you have a relatively new blog with a modest amount of daily visits I would suggest that you adjust your settings on the account to exclude your on IP if you haven't already done so. On Google Analytics it is a relatively easy process. You just create a simple filter which is described under Filter Manager.
By excluding visits from your own IP you will avoid having your own visits skew the results. After all, you will possibly spend more time on your blog posting, reviewing, editing, etc. than all your visitors combined spend on your blog initially.
Excluding your own visits will result in better stats for such things as page views, average time on site, page views, average pages per visit, etc. The stats will better reflect the real 'visitors' to the site and that is what you are looking for.
Of course the more visitors you have the less the impact your own visits would have if left in the statistics. _________________ Baker Watson

Ah a very good point you've got there BakerWatson! I set that on my SiteMeter but not on Google Analytics. Now I have it set to Exclude my own visits. Thanks! _________________ Keen Eye Designs: Jewelry by Ashley |

Let's hear some bounce rates from other bloggers and what you think about them. And don't be shy. A high bounce rate is not the end of the world, lol. There may be some very good explanations as to why an individual bounce rate appears high.
My bounce rate is still hovering in the mid 60's as it was over a month ago, but my total visits, return visitors, and visitor comments have improved significantly. (Remember I am working here with a relatively new blog with modest activity.) _________________ Baker Watson
