In WordPress it says that I cannot edit my username, but I actually want to change it. Is there an option I can choose so that I can allow it to be changed and then turn the option back the way it was?

Or, do I just have to create a new profile and assign ownership to it?

Wordpress states that you cannot edit your User Name because it is used as your Username during the login process. You can have it display your nickname instead of your user name.
