Rose,
At Google Groups, I had asked if there was a way to integrate the message board into the blog.
You sent me to "tooum switchboard"
That is a definitely a possible solution, but they are still early in development, and a skin similar to my blogger blog would be needed, which they do not seem to offer yet. It also seems as though I would need to totally migrate my blog to them, and I am not ready to do that.
So, just to make sure I am clear on things...
1) yes or no? -- In blogger, can I have comments show up on the main page of the blog or do they need to stay in the comments space?
2) Do you or anyone know of the html code or a solution for putting a small message board platform as part of a post, which would show up on the main page below the content of the post, in contrast to the current click-to-open comments feature.
3) is there any other thing or solution i should be thinking of? I just want a small basic message board platform showing below each post, but I don't want to have to link to phpBB or anything like that.
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Jeff in Texas
P.S. - My blog is used for reconnecting circles of friends from 20 yrs ago. Everyone who becomes a member can post and comment, so it already is used as bulletin board, but I like the enhanced way to start posts that blogs offer, in contrast to a bulletin board.
P.P.S. -- I see in 'Preview' how it looks to have the web page integrated into this forum post. That would be similar to how I would want a message board to integrate into blog posts, just with smaller height and width dimensions. |

Hello texasjefe42
Welcome to the community!
So you want to add some interaction for your blog?
Well this can be done but it will take some planning to get a forum intergrated in so it looks like the rest of the site...
What type of forum software are you planning on using?
With any forum software you decide to use you will need to modify the header and footer files which most are TPL files but some are using PHP.
I'll gladly assist you once you decide on which it is your going to use, but being this is blogspot either way it will have to be a remotley hosted forum and most require a link back depending on your license as well..
Let me know

Shawn,
I truly appreciate your help and I would like to work with you.
I am open to suggestions about a message board host, as I do not have one in mind. I would be seeking a free or low cost solution, with basic features.
The Blogger template style I am using is:
Blogger Template Style
Name: Minima Black
Designer: Douglas Bowman

Hi Rose!
I'm glad you liked the way I alerted you to this post from Google Groups. you are doing a fabulous job at that board. I'm now reading just about all the people's posts and picking things up a bit faster. I am messing with my template, and I even set up a separate workspace blog so I can practice with that template, before I change my real site template.
We were on the same page about starting out with chat mechanisms. Before I read your reply late Thursday night, I had stumbled upon this one:

I am checking out the ones you suggested, and am especially checking out the cbox.
Thank you again!
I'll keep this thread going, and ya'll please do the same too.
Sincerely,
Jeff in Texas |

I meant to say i am really checking out:
BlogExtra BackBlog - http://www.blogextra.com/backblog/
Is a feedback system for bloggers that could act as a message board.
BlogKomm - http://www.blogkomm.com
Displays comments below posts rather than in pop-ups. I’m not sure if it will work with blogger though. |
