A while back I searched the wordpress.org site looking to better distribute the xml-rpc pings to my site and i found an extended list of servers that you could possibly use. the following also includes the default pingomatic server so feel free to edit that one out and these servers are available on all open source software platforms. ill be offering the tip to place this for your wordpress platform blog (independently hosted platforms only not sure about wordpress.com blogs)
WordPress paid hosting (bluehost, dreamhost, etc.) blogs will go to the admin dashboard and then click on options. followed by clicking on writing scroll down to the bottom and paste the provided URL's in Update Services (keep as is cause it wants you to seperate multiple services with line breaks
