Someone recently asked me- what’s a ping.
When you ping you send an XML-RPC signal to multiple directories which then lets them know that your blog has new material.
You can manually send a ping to a site each time your blog changes by using a Ping Service such as Ping Goat (pingoat.com)
Pinging should be done any time you add a new post to your blog.

Hey Rose, I just visited Pingoat to set it up and there is part of the set up that requires you to select whether or not to ping a number of services. Now I am a member of Technorati but the rest of them like blogdigger.com, blogroller.com and holycowdude.com, do I need to sign up for these before I can ping them?
Oh and do I have an RSS feed? (I haven't set anything up to get one, I'm with blogger, does blogger just have one automatically?)
