I've had a sports blog for about three years but just now have been blogging on a consistent basis. I'm basically trying to direct more traffic to the site, get feedback on my sports-related content. Any comments, good or bad, would be greatly appreciated. Since this is a blogging "community" if anyone wants me to check out their blog for similar reasons I would be glad to do so, hit me up on this site or preferably my blog. Cheers!

Hi Mike, welcome to Blogger talk!
I'm no expert on drawing traffic and don't get all that many hits (but a lot more since I joined here I have to say!), but I found registering with Digg and Shoutwire and blowing my own trumpet by submitting a couple of my posts to those increased traffic a little, plus registering yourself with BloggingFusion and other places.
Get yourself into some sports discussion groups on Google Groups and put your blog in your sig and you might get more visitors, or maybe ideas for new posts as well.
I've checked out your blog, looks great - nicely written and I really like the template (very clean layout, unlike the sprawling chaos of mine >.< ).
The only negative thing is that the writing over the photo is quite hard to read for me, but that might just be something I should speak to my optician about! _________________ My blog - All True - http://alltruism.blogspot.com

First of all- Please don't start multiple threads requesting members to check out your blog.
Second of all- I suggest you read Adsense guidlines. What you requested is a violation of those guidlines and will get you banned.
Last, but not lease... Comment on other blogs, submit your blog to directories and take an active roll in these forums and traffic will come.
About your blog- The text is hard to read over the header Michael. _________________ Help Support Blogger Talk Blogging Community|

Rose--
I appreciate the tips, I will take the advice to heart. I do not want to get banned from AdSense nor do I want to be an annoying spammer. You were right about the photo being obtrusive, I removed it. |

Hi everyone:
In addition to what Rose & others have said, I'll add the following....
1). ADD SOME SPORTS-ORIENTED CONTENT. The Page Elements within Blogger 2.0 are really good and were designed with this purpose in mind.
2). Move the AdSense ads towards the bottom. There's nothing worse than having ads interrupt the flow of your sidebar.
3). JOIN SOME WEBRINGS. They may not bring you a plethora of traffic, but that's better than no traffic at all and having to resort to spamming & (As Rose pointed out, though I did not see the other thread she referred to) repeatedly pimping your blog just to generate traffic. Add a Live Traffic Meter such as this one and you'll be able to easily keep track of where your traffic is coming from.
4). Promote your blog ON OCCASION (And where allowed) on sports-oriented boards and other communities.
5). Have it serve as a compliment to a sports-oriented Internet Radio station such as TPSRadio and host your own sports talk show. You'll be able to pimp your blog to your heart's content that way.
Beyond that, I'm out of ideas. Perhaps someone else might be able to come up with other ideas I haven't even thought of yet. Feel free to chime in if you choose.
Hope this helps...
Cheers _________________ Pat

| Make sure you sign up for various blog services such as technorati, and also make sure you setup your xml-rpc ping services so that all the blog search engines get notified when you make a new post. |
