I started blogging back in April of this year (2008), and I've learned alot of stuff, and realize there is still much to learn----but also kinda feel I know my way around the campus so to speak---so kinda have to say I don't feel like a total "newbie"---so am asking, whats the proper time to drop the "newbie" label and represent myself as I am, green yeah, but not totally ignorant of blogging either?

If you want to get technical about it, we're all always newbies because we're all learning something new. Blogging and the Internet itself is always changing, adapting, becoming something different than it was a year ago. But if you want to talk in non-technical terms, I'd say it's a matter of personal choice. I try not to use the word "newbie" in anything I do because then people tend to label you in a certain way and then wash their hands of teaching you anything. 99% of the techies I've encountered have an I'm-better-than-you attitude no matter what you may or may not know.

I still consider myself as a newbie, I still have to learn more on blogging. _________________ Study in New Zealand: Best option to Study Abroad

Make that 3!
I kinda' look at it from a different angle. To me it's more about finally feeling comfortable with what you're doing enough so that if you chose to, you could help someone else out whose just getting started with their own blog or answering the more technical type questions another blogger might have and feel confident in doing so.
When you feel comfortable with replying and handling comments, writing and publishing posts, taking care of the daily admin chores that always need doing, you're not new any longer.
In short...when you feel your blog is your own and not some "other entity", then you've made it. _________________ Don´t die before your dead |
