On step 2 of the article it says...
2. Submit your sitemap to Google. http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/
After I put the URL in, it says "Next step Verify your site". Should I do this? The it asks for a verification method and says "Add a META tag" or "Upolad a HTML file". Any of this needed?

Hello Mousie, Yes you need to verify your site.
You can choose either option.
If you choose to Upload a file xml-sitemaps.com lets you create an XML sitemap format that can be submitted to Google.
http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
Once you have created your sitemap and saved it you need to upload it to the public_html of the root where all your files are located.
You should be able to access it if you did it correctly by going to the following url
http://www.mouseextra.com/nameofsitemap.xml
However, you might want to choose add a META tag to your site’s index file from the drop down window instead.
Copy the Meta tag listed and paste it into the < head > section before the < body > of your blog template.
I think this would be easier for you as you are a newbie.

OK, it didn't just say <head>, it said <head profile=yada, yada, yada>
directly underneath that was another line that started with meta, so I assume I put it before that, right? |
