Hmm, I’ve heard good things about Live Journal, so I signed up with a free account to see what all the fuss was about, and to be honest, to say I am disappointed is an understatement.

Maybe it’s because I am so used to working with Wordpress, but I found myself lost in a maze of an admin area, and the themes on offer were very limited.

So your thinking why is this guy complaining – this is FREE! Yes, it is, but then so is Blogger and Wordpress, and there was one feature that put me off using Live Journal instantly, and that’s the Google Adsense ads that you are forced to have on your blog.

I know Blogger has that dodgy looking bar at the top of your blog, but you can blend it in within the background, and to be honest, it doesn’t look too bad, but the Live Journal bar at the top is horrible and bulky – I’m not sure if you can turn it off, but I couldn’t find any settings to change the colour.

All in all I was disappointed with Live Journal, and to be honest, I can’t even think of anything complimentary to say about it, which is a shame – maybe the paid version is much better, I for one though won’t be paying to find out.

Darren

Just went for a look and see what you mean about the bar, that really is too bulky and spoiled most of the random blogs I viewed. lol, first time I clicked on random it tried to send me to a blog that had been deleted, that's more than enough for me not to recommend it.

Would like to here from someone who likes it though as it will have it's good points for those that have been using it for a while.

I think LiveJournal is one of those things people use because it has a large user base and not because it has the best features. You know it's the same as YouTube and MySpace... they aren't the best sites in their fields, but they have the most users so they become the best place to belong to icon_smile.gif

Isn't LiveJournal mostly full up with teen personal blogs? lol. Do a lot of people use LiveJournal these days..? I know they used to something like a few years ago..
