Hi there !
Is everybody sleeping tonight ??
Alright, I have a few questions about comments. Just interested in your opinion !
1) How do you acknowledge comments on your blog ?
Do you go visit the poster's blog ? Do you reply on your blog, by adding another comment ? Or do you reply on her-his blog ?
2) When do you feel like commenting on a blog ?
Do you comment so that the blogger gets to know your own blog ? Do you react to specific kind of posts ?
I really don't know what's the rule... probably none I guess ! |

I reply to comments anyone leaves on my blog. I don't like replying on their blog, because it splits the discussion up.
I reply to posts that interest me. If I have something to say about a post I'll leave a comment. I try not to comment if I haven't got anything useful to say. _________________ http://lifewithaguidedog.info |

I answer comments directly on my site. I usually visit the person's site at least once. If they frequently comment, I try to do the same on their site.
As a side note, I also moderate my comments. I only reject a comment if the person begins to call people names or if I get a spam comment. I have had to reject one comment becuase they were rude, and two or three as spam comments. |

Thanks for your replies !
I visit the blog of everyone who comments. I usually leave a comment, unless I'm 100% not interested in the blog.
I reply on my comment, not to split the discussion as I said.
I also moderate my comments but haven't had any spam so far. |

I always reply to the comments on my blog even if it doesn't warrant a reply. I just think that it is polite to acknowledge readers. I then visit their site and comment on something if possible.
I am not sure about question 2... If I can think of an answer I will reply, but at the moment I am at a bit of a loss as to how to answer it. I am not sure why though... _________________ Aidan L - http://www.aidanloughran.co.uk/wordpress/ |

I try to reply to every comment made on my blog. I also visit their blog and leave a comment but lately I've not had enough time to spend on blogging. _________________

| I tend to do a combination of things, depending on what the comment is. Sometimes I'll reply on my own, but most people won't necessarily come back to check for replies, so I also head back to their place....it's likely to spark them to come back to 'mine' to remind them what I'm replying, too, and it also returns the favor of commenting on their own content. Occasionally, a blogger will email me instead of commenting on my blog, and it turns into an email conversation for a bit even. As far as 'when' I comment, I usually do it rather quickly.....but it doesn't hurt to do it a few days later.....better late than never, too, and if a person is behind in commenting back, it just gives the other commenter longer to forget and more of a reason to check back after you comment on them, so it doesn't make 'that' much difference unless it's way too long and they've lost interest by then. |

I try to reply to every comment when possible. I think it lets people know they are being heard, I also installed a subscribe to comments plugin so people will get updates via e-mail. I usually comment only when I have feed back or something I feel will add to the topic. _________________ BANNED |

| I don't get a ton of comments, so I try to respond to all of them. I stress the word try. Lately I've been a bit lax because I've taken on a few writing projects that are proving to be bigger time-suckers than creative endeavors. I'm completely impressed by those, and I know a few, bloggers who respond to every comment, but not responding doesn't sour me on the site if I'm already a regular reader. |

oooooh, I love comments, they make my day a little bit better. When I do get some, I try to comment back. If you want to leave me some, know you will be making my day! hehe Plus, it is always fun to see what new things people have put up on their pages and it is a helpful reminder to go check it out.

Like most people, I comment on my own blog to others. Since Blogger has recently implemented the ability to receive follow-up comments via email, more people might use that to find out if the owner has responded to your comment.
As for commenting myself, there are plenty of blogs I read almost daily but don't always comment. If I don't it's because I don't have anything to say, even if the post was enjoyable or because someone's already said what I had in mind to say.
Most of my posts - more than 50% I'd say - have no comments at all.
